The rest of dinner had been absolutely fantastic. It was almost like their first date again. It was warm, unburdened and it was most of all, genuine. Just Stella and Derrick. Half way through the course and onto their second bottle of the best saké she’d ever tasted, he’d rid himself of his jacket, shirt rolled up to his elbows and a permanent smile on his face.

She loved that smile as much as she loved him. It changed everything about him.

Their jokes, their conversation...everything just flowed naturally, exactly the way things were in her apartment a year ago. They’ve seen the worst in each other but she falls in love with him over and over again every time they get to be just like this.

“I have to use the ladies’ room,” she tells him some time after their last course. He gives her a kiss and helps her out of her chair.

Leaving the private room, instead of heading for the restrooms, she turns the opposite direction and quickly darts through the restaurant, through the hotel lobby and towards the elevator. Luckily, there was already one on the ground and she steps into it alone without having to wait. She quickly pushes the Level 17 button and steps back, looking at the new ring on her finger with a smile.

Once she steps off of the elevator she was nearly racing to Room 1735, quickly opening it with the key she had already pulled from her purse. Heading to the bathroom, she checks her phone before she begins undressing as her fingers begin her text to him.

Room 1735.

Short and simple but he’d know, she thought with a smile into the mirror. She finds the bag she had left inside earlier and quickly pulls out the black lingerie and the silk robe, quickly getting dressed.

The knock on the door came as soon as she placed the black bag with the red bow on the bed for him. She takes a glance at herself in the mirror by the door one more time before opening it.

“Glad you can make it, Boss,” she says, holding the door open for him to step inside the dimly lit room.

She watches as he scans the room briefly as she was closing the door and locking it. He walks forward into the room, tossing his jacket onto the back of a chair before turning around and looking her over for the first time.

“Wow,” he utters, walking over towards her.

His lips reach hers, his hands untying the knot of the robe at her waist. For awhile they were kissing and kissing, breathing one breath. One exhaling, one inhaling.

“I don’t like surprises, Stella.”

“But?” she says.

“You’re never going to stop surprising me are you?”

“Probably not. Perks of having me as a girlfriend,” she says with a shrug.

“Let’s see what other perks there are,” he says. He was already pushing the robe off of her shoulders and pulling her towards the large bed.

“I like this,” he says, tracing his fingers over the sheer fabric covering her breasts.
